REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Home Affairs Minister Tjahjo Kumolo said there will be another mass organization to be dissolved, in addition to the dissolution to Hizbut Tahrir Indonesia (HTI). He was reluctant to give definitive answers when being asked whether the government will disband Front Pembela Islam (Islamic Defenders Front).
Without disclosing any name, he confirmed the mass organization to be dissolved is a small mass organization. Nevertheless, he considered the organization has been disrupting public order. He also argued it conducted anarchist activities.
Tjahjo revealed the mass organization that will be disbanded operated in some regions. It is a quiet well-known organization in the areas.
"Just wait. It is a small organization," he said after discussion of Election Law at Century Hotel, Senayan, Central Jakarta, on Saturday (August 12).
According to Tjahjo, the government has been monitoring activities of the mass organization for two years. The result of monitoring and observation will be submitted to the Attorney General, the police as well as religious figures and community leaders in the regions.
"When deciding to dissolve a mass organization, we must have a strong evidence. Before dissolving Hizbut Tahrir Indonesia (HTI), it took 10 years of monitoring," he said.
Tjahjo admitted two years of monitoring has not been maximal. Therefore, Home Affairs Ministry will clarify the data by using a number of photos and videos as well as other evidence.
