REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Nearly three months ago, Saiful Mujani Research and Consulting (SMRC) released the result of the survey related to achievement of Jokowi-Jusuf Kalla government. SMRC found 63 percent respondents felt it was harder to get a job in 2016 compared to 2015. "The issue of employment is a homework for Jokowi-Jusuf Kalla government," Program Director SMRC Sirojuddin Abbas in a press release made available to Republika.co.id, on Sunday (October 23, 2016).

The survey was conducted on October 13 to 17, 2016. As much as 1,220 people was interviewed face to face by using multistage random sampling method. The margin of error was 3.7 percent with reliability rate of 95 percent.

Meanwhile, the news heated up the atmosphere. People noticed that illegal foreign workers, especially from China, flooded the country.

Aside of some Chinese nationals who entered the dark side with offering them self as commercial sex worker, others prefered to cultivate chili, produce bricks, work at electronic distributor office and run illegal fishing business in Indonesia. Those outlaws spread over the archipelago, from Sukabumi (West Java), Madiun (East Java) to Sorong (West Papua).

Actually, the law only allowed skilled foreigners to work in Indonesia. It was regulated with the Law No 13 Year 2003 on Manpower. But the Confederation of Indonesian Labor Unions (KSPI) saw hundreds of thousands of unskilled foreigners work in Indonesia. "Our constitutional right as citizens to find jobs has been ignored," KSPI President Said Iqbal told the press here Thursday (January 5).

Therefore, the confederation will file citizen lawsuits against the government simultaneously in 20 district courts in 20 provinces throughout Indonesia. The confederation plans to stage a rally protesting the presence of illegal foreign workers on February 6 in Jakarta.

Aside from the rally planned by KSPI, the Commission IX of the House of Representatives remembered President Joko Widodo and Vice President Jusuf Kalla's promise to cut unemployment rate. "The government must remember the promise to provide 10 million jobs and puts this as a priority in 2017," said the Chairman of Commission IX of the House of Representatives, Dede Yusuf, on Wednesday (January 11).

The government actually had issued various economic policy packages to improve its people economic condition, but on reality, it is considered to be inappropriate to the people's expectations. The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) said in 2016, the unemployment rate remains high, reached for 7 million people.

Unemployment, Dede said, causes poverty, instability of security and vulnerability of horizontal friction among the society. Millions of unemployed people would be easily stumble on unwanted problems when they do not get jobs," said the politician from Democratic Party.

Dede also addressed that the outbreak of hoaxes in the social media is now more worrying, because it will easily affected the unemployed. He gave an example, the outbreak of illegal foreign workers (TKA) found with tourist passport would make the unemployed to be panic, because they think they will be more difficult to get a job.

“If people do not have a job, or unemployed, their psychological condition will be vulnerable. From the physical to the mental and the ability to dig the information, it will be related. They are easily ingested a hoax. It will be useless when the government aggressively combat the hoax, but not aggressively alleviate unemployment, '' said Dede.
