REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, KARAWANG -- Immigration authorities in West Java's Karawang District have deported 16 foreign workers for violating the immigration law. The deportation took place after the supervisory team cracked down on illegal foreign workers in several industrial estates in Purwakarta and Karawang.
"The deported foreign workers were earlier employed in the districts of Karawang and Purwakarta," Spokesman for the Karawang Immigration Office Endy Agustiawan stated here on Thursday.
The foreign workers were deported for violating the immigration law, including overstaying their permits and working illegally, he remarked.
Under article 75, sub-article 2, letter F of Law No. 6 of 2011, the immigration office can deport any foreign national found violating the immigration law, he pointed out.
The 16 foreign workers came from China, Malaysia, Singapore, Japan, South Korea, the Philippines, and Germany.
"The deported foreign workers are not unskilled but professional workers," he added.
