Lombok cultural month expects two thousand tourists

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, MATARAM  --  West Nusa Tenggara province expects to attract two thousand tourists during the Lombok Sumbawa Cultural Month 2016.

This annual agenda will be held from August 18 to September 16 in 18 different places across the province, the Head of Culture and Tourism Office, Lalu Moh Faozal said on Thursday. "We will feature a variety of programs during the whole month and expect two to three thousand tourists," he added.

Faozal said August is a summer season, therefore the office use the moment to attract more foreign tourists to visit West Nusa Tenggara.

"At this moment, the number of domestic tourists visiting the province is 1.2 million. We have targeted to attract 1.5 million by the end of this year," he added.

According to Faozal, the tourist sites included in the Month of Culture are among others Senggigi beach, Narmada and Suranadi parks in West Lombok. "In Senggigi, there will be a cultural festival, while in Narmada we are featuring a paragliding tourism sport," he said.

The two largest islands in West Nusa Tenggara province are Lombok in the west and Sumbawa in the east. Mataram which is located in Lombok island is the capital and largest city of the province.
