Massive layoff threatening Indonesia

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Confederation of Indonesian Workers Unions (KSPI) uncover PT Panasonic and PT Toshiba plan to lay off their workers.

KSPI release layoff data in the two Japanese giant companies. First, layoff will cut 865 workers in PT Toshiba consumer products. KSPI and FSPMI see PP No 78 Tahun 2015 is one of the factors for decreasing purchasing power.

After that, 480 Panasonic workers in Kawasan Industri Cikarang will cut off too. Then, 800 Panasonic workers in the Kawasan Industri Pier, Pasuruan will experience the same thing.

"2.145 workers threatened to be lay off on that companies," Chairman of the KSPI Said Iqbal said on Wednesday (3/2).
