Workers in Central Java mostly elementary school graduates

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SEMARANG - Workers in Central Java are still dominated by elementary school with a percentage of 51.97 percent.

"If talk in long-term, labors conditions in Central Java describe much workers finished elementary school because of the structure of the population majority graduates compared to graduates of universities and another educational level," said Head of the Statistics Agency (BPS) in Central Java Margo Yuwono in Semarang, Friday (6/5).

The number of lots for people with a background in elementary education tend not to select to finding a job. Unlike the university graduates who choose the jobs they want.

"With this condition means that labor productivity is still low, which definitely the level of welfare is also low. In effect, salary will follow that," he said.

Margo said most workers with primary school graduates work in informal sectors. Typically, employment in the formal sector can not hired them, then they will only work in the informal sector, one of them small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

‘’In effect, the results of their work will affect the low competitiveness. Therefore, government should be take a number of efforts, one of attempts is a partnership program," he said.

With partnership program, one that can be done is a partnership between large-scale enterprises with micro.

"The goal is to grow this business sector together. One of the technical part of work can be done joint by the large companies with small. Then they will grow up together," he said.

Earlier, Statistis agency released, until the February 2016, the number of residents working in Central Java about 17.16 million people. The number increased by about 727 thousands people compared to the situation in August 2015 and be reduced by about 160 thousands people than in February 2015.
