REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, WEST LOMBOK -- Bulayak Satay which has a savory and spicy taste is one of the Iftar menu options for Muslims living on Lombok Island, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB).
“Savory spices combined with spicy pieces of cayenne pepper make bulayak satay suitable for eating during iftar,” said Rahman, one of the buyers when he met at Bulayak Satay Narmada culinary center, West Lombok, NTB, Tuesday (3/3/2026).
Rahman, who came with his wife and son, deliberately drove a dozen kilometers from Mataram City to Narmada District just to break the fast with the legendary bulayak satay menu.
He said that he often ate bulayak satay in Jalan Udayana, Mataram City, and only for the first time tasted authentic bulayak satay in the region of culinary origin.
Bulayak satay is a typical culinary dish originating from Narmada District, West Lombok Regency. Now, the food has spread to various places on Lombok Island, especially tourist attractions and crowded centers.
“We only came here for the first time because we were interested in the crowds of the culinary center of Bulayak Satay Narmada,” Rahman said.
