President Jokowi monitors local elections in Bogor Palace

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Simultaneous regional head election was held in Indonesia for the first time, Wednesday (9/12). Presidential Communications Team Ari Dwipayana said, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) monitored the elections in his residence in Bogor Palace.

"The President continues to monitor and get reports on situation of the elections," said Ari, in Jakarta, Wednesday (9/12).

The President, he continued, received a report about the election from Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Luhut Pandjaitan, Minister of Home Affairs Tjahjo Kumolo, and National Police Chief Gen. Badrodin Haiti.

Jokowi did not participate in the election, because he was stated as citizen of Jakarta since serving as governor of Jakarta. On Monday (7/12), in a press conference at the Presidential Palace, the President appealed to all Indonesian people to enliven the democratic party in 269 regions.

"I urge the people of Indonesia in 269 regions to participate actively in using voting right. Do not forget to come to the polling stations! Do not forget to choose the leader of Indonesia!" said the President.
