REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) will soon install Admiral Willem Rampangilei as Head of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB). The inauguration of Willem as the new head will be held at the State Palace on Monday (7/9) at 15.00 pm.

In his new position later, Willem will replace Syamsul Maarif, who has served since 2008. Willem previously served as Deputy I of Coordinating Ministry for Human Development and Culture.

He also once occupied as commander in the main base of Indonesian Navy (Lantamal) VIII Manado. The man who started his career as a soldier in the Navy in 1980, also served as head of the Department of Hydrography and Oceanography in Jakarta.

The inauguration of new Head of BNPB by President Jokowi recently will be conducted in the middle of smoke and forest fires that hit several provinces in Sumatra and Kalimantan.
