REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PEKANBARU -- The police in Riau province have arrested a civil servant for allegedly abusing and trafficking crystal meth, locally known as sabu-sabu.

The civil servant, identified by the initials Ba alias Er, was arrested at his house on M. Yamin Street in Kampar district, on Monday night, spokesman for the Riau provincial police Adjunct Senior Commissioner Guntur Aryo Tejo stated here on Tuesday.

During the raid on his house, the police seized 27.38 grams of crystal meth, two digital scales, and a bong, he revealed.

"We believe that he is not only a drug abuser but also a drug trafficker," he noted.

The police made the arrest after receiving a tip-off from the public that the suspect who works for a local plantation office is believed to be a drug trafficker.

Having received the tip-off, the police sent a team of personnel to search his house where they found crystal meth, scales, and a bong as evidence.

The suspect is being detained along with the seized evidence at the Kampar district police station for questioning.

Early this month, the police also arrested a civil servant for allegedly consuming crystal meth.

The suspect, identified by the initials BK, worked for the Bukit Kapur sub-district administration. He was arrested while consuming crystal meth at his house on Soekarno-Hatta Street in Dumai.
