REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, CAIRO -- Egypt supports the dialogue between Libyan parties held at Morocco's city of Skhirat under the auspices of the United Nations, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Sunday.

"The Libyan parties should not waste this opportunity and reach an agreement," Egyptian Foreign Ministry's spokesman Badr Abdel-Atty said, praising the UN efforts to prepare for an agreement "which can achieve the urgent demands of the Libyan people and maintain the stability and unity of Libya."

Meanwhile, around 300 Egyptian expatriates in Libya returned back home over the past 24 hours through Salloum Land Port in Egypt's Matrouh province, some 550 km northwest of the capital Cairo, according to official MENA news agency.

Over the past few months, more than 45,000 Egyptian expatriates returned home after bitter suffering in the turmoil-stricken neighboring country.

In February, the the Egyptian forces launched airstrikes targeting extremists affiliated with the Islamic State (IS) militant group after the latter released a video showing the beheading of more than 20 Egyptian Copts in Libya.
