REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, LEBAK -- All regional leaders should be sensitive towards environmental conservation to save lands, forests and springs, according to Chairperson of the Garuda Nusantara Foundation Ully Sigar.

"Lands and forests are rampantly damaged in many regions across the country, including in the Halimun mountain area in Lebak district, Banten province," Sigar said here on Saturday.

She added that to prevent deforestation and damage to lands to maintain springs, regional leaders should be sensitive towards environmental conservation.

The destruction of nature will also pose a threat to humans and other habitats, she remarked.

Therefore, she pointed out, Garuda Nusantara Foundation, through the Environmental Lovers Association, has launched a nature conservation activity that aims to spread awareness about the need to conserve the environment to save springs.

Sigar further noted that as springs now faced the threat of extinction, it was necessary to implement efforts towards sustainable reforestation in many regions across the country.

"We urge all public elements, regional governments, the military and police forces, and students to unite to save lands and forests from damage," she emphasized.
