REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANDUNG -- Over 4,000 people have been displaced due to floods in Bandung, West Java. Heavy rains triggered floods in several areas in Bandung from three days ago.

"Dayeuhkolot, Bojongsoang and Baleendah are among the worst-hit areas," Head of Police Department of West Java, M Iriawan, said on Sunday, December 21.

The floods are inundating the areas due to the contour of the land. The location of river is higher than housing. The areas suffer floods every year.

Police have instructed its member to distribute help and secure the housing. "We use canoe to secure the house," he said.

Iriawan said that Bandung should get more attention as it was the fourth most disaster prone city in Indonesia. Meanwhile, Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) declares alert status to Bandung Regency. "The areas have been affected for three days," Head of BPBD Bandung Regency, Marlan, said.
