REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, YOGYAKARTA -- The legal process of Philippine national Mary Jane will be accelerated, so that the executions of the death row convicts could be done immediately, stated Coordinating Political, Legal and Security Affairs Minister Tedjo Edhy Purdijatno.
"Maybe, we can expect a decision from the Supreme Court this week," Minister Tedjo noted after attending an event held by the Law Faculty of Gadjah Mada University here on Monday (9/3).
The government has yet to schedule the execution as no decision has been taken on the judicial review lodged by the death-row drug convict.
According to the minister, the government never intended to delay the executions of the convicts.
Jane was arrested at the Adisutjipto International Airport, Yogyakarta, on April 24, 2010, in possession of 2.622 kilograms of heroin. She was one of the convicts to be executed.
The others facing death penalty are murder convicts and Indonesian citizens Syofial, alias Iyen bin Azwar; Harun bin Ajis; Sargawi, alias Ali bin Sanusi; drug convicts Serge Areski Atlaoui of France; Martin Anderson, alias Belo, of Ghana; Zainal Abidin of Indonesia; and Rodrigo Gularte of Brazil; Australian citizens Andrew Chan and Myuran Sukumaran; and Raheem Agbaje Salami of Nigeria.
