REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- South Jakarta Metro Police stationed a number of snipers to secure the trial of the defendant Thamrin bomb case, Aman Abdurrahman alias Oman Rochman in South Jakarta District Court (PN). The police also deployed 450 personnel to secure the hearing to read out the verdict.
"We are putting snipers to watch the movements from outside," said South Jakarta Metro Police Chief, Police Commissioner Indra Jafar in Jakarta, Friday (June 22).
Indra said the snipers complemented the armed forces stationed around the South Jakarta District Court. He said that police officers assisted by security guards in court examined all court visitors.
Security was divided into four layers of security outside the South Jakarta District Court in the courtroom. The court also did not hold another agenda after the verdict of Aman's trial, which was also the defendant for various other terrorism cases, in order to facilitate the security.
Unlike other big case court hearings aired live on television, Aman's trial did not aired live. Public Relations of South Jakarta Public Prosecutor Ahmad Guntur said the trial of terrorism case with defendant Aman is actually open to public, so anyone can see the trial process. Nevertheless, based on a letter from the Indonesian Broadcasting Commission (KPI), the trial process could not be broadcast live.
"The hearing is open to the public, but there is no camera. Because KPI asking not to be broadcasted live," said Guntur in South Jakarta District Court.

Earlier, public prosecutors of South Jakarta District Court has charged Aman with death penalty. The prosecutors considered Aman is responsible for orchestrating suicide bombings and shootings at Jl. MH Thamrin, Central Jakarta, in January 2016. Fact of the trials showed that Aman was not part of Jamaah Ansharut Daulah radical group. The defendant also has acknowledged that.
However, Aman was one of the referent figures. The books that he wrote entitled "Tawhid Series" are used as reference by groups with the same ideology.
Aman also proven to have published the book online so it can be accessed freely. The Indonesian government have blocked the sites containing Oman's articles.
Aman also recruited Bahrun Naim who led the attacks in Thamrin areas.
