REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, MANADO -- The government is expected to take more professional steps to boost marine tourism in North Sulawesi, according to Mohammad Naliko, the owner of Manado Sultan Tour and Travel.
"The government should be more professional in developing marine tourism in order to attract domestic and foreign tourists," Mohammad said here on Monday.
He noted that currently, marine tourism in North Sulawesi is the mainstay that can rival the beauty of Raja Ampat in West Papua.
Therefore, the North Sulawesi provincial government should work hard to develop the province's natural and marine tourism.
Mohammad pointed out that North Sulawesi has several tourist attractions that can be developed, such as the Lembeh and Bangka islands in Bitung, and Lihaga and Indah islands in Siau and Talaut districts.
"If the government gives special attention to marine tourism, the tourism industry will continue to evolve and reap considerable foreign exchange," he noted.
He stated that the development of marine tourism in North Sulawesi is in line with the central government's program to encourage the maritime sector across the country.
