Police hand over 18 Chinese nationals to immigration authorities

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAMBI -- Police in Jambi province have handed over 18 Chinese nationals, who were arrested from a rented house here on Thursday night for their alleged involvement in online gambling, to local immigration authorities.

They were handed over to immigration authorities on Friday evening after intensive interrogation at the Jambi Provincial Police station, spokesman for the Jambi provincial police Adj. Snr. Comsr. Almansyah said here on Friday (9/1).

Evidences seized during their arrest suggest that the Chinese nationals had been involved in online gambling. However, the police have yet to confirm the matter.

"We are coordinating with state telecommunication operator Telkom. We cannot prove as yet whether or not they had been involved in online gambling," he added.

The 18 Chinese nationals have been identified as Miyake (30), Joonk (31), Kelly (22), Jon (35), Jay (31), Wengki (22), Jason (28), Pig (29), Panda (27), Mike (20), Akong (20), Acou (45), Abei (29), Mak (33), Abing (25), Adong (29), Aka (32), and Michel (36).

During the arrest, the police also seized two units of home phones, 17 mobile phones, one power bank, three phone chargers, one IPad, one printer, one UPS, and two laptops.

They also seized two Apple S5 IPhones, one Apple 4 IPhone, and one Apple 5 IPhone.
