REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The newly-inaugurated chief of the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM), Franky Sibarani, said he planned to improve and simplify investment licensing procedures within the next six months.
"In line with the president's directives, we will first improve licensing procedures and then eradicate bottlenecks. There are a lot of projects lined up already, but their implementation is still being hindered by various problems, including licensing, which the president has said may take two years or more to procure," he stated on Thursday after his inauguration as the BKPM chief by the president.
He added, "How do we speed up licensing procedures and make them simpler, and how do we make them transparent and integrated? Integration should not be just between ministries and central institutions but among regions as well."
Sibarani expressed hope that in the next six months, they would see positive results.
"It will happen within the next six months, but it will happen in stages. I cannot set a target, but we will certainly coordinate with the coordinating ministers of economic affairs and maritime affairs. It will all be done by focusing on ways to accelerate the implementation of one-stop services," he affirmed.
Sibarani further noted that he believed if licensing procedures were brought to order, they would indirectly improve the country's competitiveness.
