REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, NEGARA - The Jembrana police of Bali province are taking anticipatory measures to prevent fuel hoarding as the government plans to raise subsidized fuel prices.

"We have placed four police personnel at each fuel refilling station to prevent hoarding. We have also deployed police intelligence officers from the regional investigation department," Jembrana's Resort Police Deputy Chief Commissioner Riza Faizal said  on Friday.

The Jembrana Resort Police also have personnel on standby. Besides the police, Jembrana's industry, trade, and cooperatives service will also carry out checks at fuel refilling stations from next Monday.

"Beginning Monday, we will visit refilling stations to check their supply and stocks and study any possibility of fuel hoarding," Komang Susila, chief of the Industry, Trade and Cooperatives Service of Jembrana.

The government has confirmed that the price of subsidized fuel will be increased in November although the exact rate of hike has yet to be finalized.

"We have decided to hike the price of subsidized fuel this month (November)," Coordinating Minister of Economic Affairs Sofyan Djalil had said in Jakarta on Wednesday.

Djalil had noted that the government would reallocate fuel subsidies to more productive sectors after considering their business objectives.
