Ahok plans to attend Asian Games 2014 opening ceremony

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Vice governor of Jakarta, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) plans to attend the opening ceremony of Asian Games XVII in Incheon, South Korea. The most eye-catching event will officially kick off on September 19th at Incheon Asian Stadium.

"I plan to depart from Jakarta on Thursday night. I want to attend the Incheon Asian Games opening ceremony," Purnama said on Wednesday.

Purnama also visits South Korea to sign agreement because Jakarta plans to host the Asian Games XVIII in 2018.

This huge occasion will see over 13,000 athletes from the 45 member states. They will participate in 439 events across 36 different sports. The opening ceremony will present K-Pop stars, Psy and JYJ. After that, they will sing the 2014 Incheon Asian Games official song, ‘Only One’.

The Asian Games media village is located in Guwol-dong, Namdong-gu. It is also ready for the journalists from all around Asia. About 650 journalists have so far settled in the apartments. The media village contains nearly 1,300 apartments and 2,840 journalists will be living here during the Games. Shuttle buses to all the main stadiums and competition areas are in place for them.
