REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Maarten Paes's injury is not alarming. The Netherlands-born Nijmegen goalkeeper has a chance to be relegated to face Bahrain in Group C of the Third Round of the 2026 Asia Zone World Cup Qualifier. Bahrain will host Indonesia at Bahrain National Stadium, Riffa, Manama, Thursday (10/10/2024) evening at 23.00 pm.

“The chances of playing are still 70 per cent. But today and tomorrow will be seen first of all the progress of his recovery,” he said after the national training at Hamad Town Youth & Sports Ground on Tuesday (8/10/2024) evening, in the official statement of the PSSI.

He said he would still monitor the progress of Paes's hand injury recovery. He revealed that the team doctor will evaluate first to ensure the readiness of the FC Dallas player.

The 53-year-old coach said Paes's injury was not something serious. It was for this reason that Paes was called up to the Indonesian national team for two important matches against Bahrain and China.

“(His injury) wasn't that severe. We will make a decision later,” Shin said.

Paes arrived in Manama, Bahrain on Tuesday afternoon local time. He missed FC Dallas' last two matches due to the injury. Without Paes in those two matches, FC Dallas swallowed a defeat and a draw.
