The Second President, Soeharto, Received the Title of National Hero

Soeharto Receives Title as Hero in the Field of Armed and Political Struggle.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - President Prabowo Subianto handed the title of National Hero to the 2nd President of the Republic of Indonesia Soeharto. The awarding of the title was accepted by Soeharto's eldest daughter, Siti Hardijanti Rukmana or Tutut Soeharto as heirs, at Istana Negara, Jakarta, Monday (10/11/2025).

According to a live broadcast on the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube channel, on Monday, in the procession of handing over the title of hero, Tutut was accompanied by his younger brother, Bambang Trihatmodjo. The award is based on the Decree of the President of the Republic of Indonesia (Keppres) Number 116/TK/year 2025 on the awarding of the title of National Hero.

Soeharto received the title of hero in the field of Armed and Political Struggle, for his outstanding merits and role since independence. As deputy commander of BKR Yogyakarta, General Soeharto is noted for leading the disarmament of Japanese forces in Kota Baru in 1945.

In addition to Soeharto, there are nine other figures who were awarded the title of National Hero at the celebration of Heroes' Day 2025.

The nine figures are:

1. Late KH Abdurrahman Wahid (Field of Political Struggle and Islamic Education)

2. Almarhumah Marsinah (Field of Social and Humanitarian Struggle)

3. Late Prof. Dr. Mochtar Kusumaatmadja (Field of Legal and Political Struggle)

4. Almarhumah Hajjah Rahmah El Yunusiyyah (Field of Struggle for Islamic          Education)

5. The late Army General (Purn) Sarwo Edhie Wibowo (Field of Armed Struggle)

6. The late Sultan Muhammad Salahuddin (Field of Struggle in Education and Diplomacy)

7. Late Shaikhona Muhammad Kholil (Field of Struggle for Islamic Education)

8. Late Tuan Rondahaim Saragih (Field of Armed Struggle)

9. Late Zainal Abidin Syah (Field of Political Struggle and Diplomacy)
