REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, Ramadhan is the ninth month of Islamic years. Muslims around the world observe fasting during the month. They must refrain from consuming food, beverage, smoking, and sexual activities from the dawn until the sunset, when they break the fast or ifthar in Arabic.

Muslims believe that God will double his rewards of good deeds during the holy month. Fasting is obligatory for every Muslim except for those who are sick, traveling, pregnant, breastfeeding, or in their menstrual cycle.
