REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Government will increase electricity tariff for big industry starts on May 1, 2014. The increase plan has been passed by the House Of Parliament Commission VII after meeting with Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources on January 21, 2014.

The increase will be implemented four times on May 1, July 1, September 1 and November 1, 2014 and implemented to big industry with capacity over 200 kVA (I3 category) and listed companies (PT), which use high voltage devices with power over 30 thousand kVA (I4 category).

The new regulation also imposed an automatic tariff adjustment for four non-subsidized classes, namely large household (R3 category, over 6,600 VA), medium-sized business (B2 category, 6,600 VA-200 kVA), large business (B3 category, over 200 kVA) and medium government's offices (P1 category, 6,600 VA-200 kVA).

Yet, the tariff will be influenced by the exchange rates, inflation, and Indonesian crude price (ICP). In state budget 2014, government allocates electric subsidy worth 71.4 trillion IDR.
