Nasdem and PDIP build a coalition and agree on Jokowi's candidacy

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Executive board of National Democratic (Nasdem) party officially agreed to build a coalition with Indonesia's Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP).

both parties have also agreed on Joko Widodo (known as Jokowi) as the presidential candidate for July's election. Yet, they have not discussed political transaction, including ministerial posts if Jokowi wins the presidential election.

"While waiting for General Election Commission or KPU's announcement, we agreed to build a coalition to support Joko Widodo (known as Jokowi)," Chairman of Nasdem, Surya Paloh explained at his central office in Gondangdia, Central Jakarta on Saturday.

Jokowi visited Nasdem's office accompanied by PDIP's secretary general, Tjahjo Kumolo. Paloh said that both parties had same vision and mission to make Indonesia more powerful by strengthening presidential system in the country. Jokowi said that the coalition agreement based on the spirit to restore presidential system next period.
