KPU deletes names of 101 foreigners from voters' list

KPU confirms that there are 101 foreigners on the voters' list.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The General Elections Commission (KPU) has removed the names of 101 foreigners holding Indonesia's electronic identity (e-ID) cards from the final voters' list (DPT) for the 2019 simultaneous legislative and presidential elections. Initially, the Home Affairs Ministry had informed about the finding of 103 names of foreigners in the DPT, the Commission noted in a statement on Wednesday evening.

After rechecking, the KPU found only 102 names of foreigners in the list, and a foreigner, identified by his name as Guillaume, was listed twice. After comparing with the Home Affairs Ministry's findings, the KPU confirmed that there were 101 foreigners on the list.

The Home Affairs Ministry had earlier revealed that out of 1,680 foreigners holding Indonesia's e-ID cards, 103 names were mistakenly included in the DPT.

Meanwhile, the Ministry's Director General of Public Administration Zudan Arif Fakrulloh shared here on Wednesday the list of the 103 foreigners and their origin countries.

According to the data, the foreigners comprised one each from South Africa, India, Mauritius, Pakistan, Poland, Spain, Tanzania, Turkey, Vietnam, Greece, and Portugal; two each from Italy, Canada, and Thailand; three each from Bangladesh, France, Singapore, and Taiwan; four each from China, the Philippines, the United Kingdom, and South Korea; five from Australia; six from Germany; seven each from the United States, Switzerland, and Malaysia; eight from the Netherlands; and 18 from Japan.
