600 dancers perform at World Culture Forum

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JIMBARAN -- About 600 dancers performed in gala dinner at World Culture Forum (WCF) in Nusa Dua, Bali. This event is held on November 24-27, 2013 and brings international cultures from many countries.

Dances from various parts of the Archipelago and the world can be viewed, such as Bali dance, Papua dance and Reog Ponorogo. Participant countries also performed Brazilian dance, Bollywood dances and Spain.

President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and First Lady Ani Yudhoyono attended this event accompanied by several ministers, such as Minister of Education and Culture, M Nuh. President was scheduled to officially open the event since 2005.

Nuh said that cultural characteristics were able to reach a broad cross, such as religion and culture. Therefore, culture can be a power sources.

"No culture, no future," Nuh said recently.

Nuh added that cultural intersection can led to two possibilities if it was not anticipated. First, clash of cultures that are not desirable. Second, cultural convergence with principal of mutual respects. Cultural convergence needs a dialogue and cooperation.
