REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Indonesian archeologist team suspected that they found wreck ships of U-Boat owned by Nazy, Germany around Karimun Jawa islands in Java Sea. Head of researcher, Bambang Budi Utomo said that the Nazy submarines wrecked by Dutch torpedo on October 6, 1944.

There is a historical story in U-Boat achieve that there were two Germany submarines in World War II that sank in Java Sea. Two ships are U-168 and U-183.

Both ships departed from Germany, then stopped at some ports, such as Argentine, Madagascar, Penang, Batavia (Jakarta) and Surabaya. They then sailed to Australian waters. Another archeologist, Priyatno Hadi said that there were so many wreck ships found in Java Sea.

"There are so many spots diving related to the wreck ships. Previously, researchers found 10 other ship wrecks," Hadi said recently.

As quoted from a book by Martin Brice titled Axis Blockade Runners of World War II (1981), U-168 sailed from Penang on January 28, 1944 to Batavia. They carried 100 tonnes of tin, tungsten, quinine and opium. U-183 also sailed from Penang and also brought similar items.

A team conducted an underwater archeological research around Karimun Jawa islands on November 4-14, 2103. The result, they managed to find two Nazy ships. There is still no official conclusion, but from written sources about a war in Java Sea, there was a German submarine fleet charge of securing Java Sea and Australian waters.
