REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SURABAYA - Head of National Land Agency (BPN), Hendarman Supandji said new record of agrarian cases during 2013 reached 2,857 cases. The number is considered high.

"BPN found many new cases this year. This issue remains to be resolved and it is our focus," Supandji said recently.

BPN leadership transition in 2012 bequeathed many cases. BPN recorded there were 7,196 land cases in whole Indonesia in 2012. Various cases were dominated by ownership of land and all cases involved BPN. Supandji said BPN had reduced these legacy programs in early 2013. 

BPN successfully completed 4,291 cases and BPN accelerated settlement of disputed land until September 2013 and resolved about 2,383 cases. However, disputed land cases re-increased this year due to BPN's lacking of power and authority.

"BPN only deals with those problems without capacity to resolve disputed land in judiciary," Supandji said and added that minimal human resources was also be an obstacle.
