REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Indonesian Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) detained Head of Special Task Force for Upstream Oil and Gas (SKK Migas) Rudi Rubiandini at 10.30 pm on Tuesday on graft. KPK confiscated hundreds of thousands USD and other items as evidence including BMW motorcycles from Rubiandini's residence on Brawijaya Street, South Jakarta.

"We confiscated 400 thousands USD and we still count the remaining money," spokesperson of KPK, Johan Budi, confirmed on Wednesday.

Intensive investigation is underway as Rubiandini is allegedly involved in bribery case. "We still probe the case but I confirm, this is bribery case," Budi added.

Police also detained four men who also suspected involved in corruption case. Rubiandini allegedly received bribery from an oil and gas company from United States, Kernel Oil. His detention drew some reactions from politicians, professionals, including his colleagues at SKK Migas who were surprised by the measure taken by KPK.

According to Head of Indonesia Petroleum Association (IPA) Lukman Mahfoedz, almost all business in oil and gas are public companies. The President Diroctor of PT Medco Energy International said, most of those companies had adopted good corporate governance (GCG).

"I believe the majority people in this business hold on to GCG principles. In other words, I can say that we distance ourselves from any measure indicated as bribery," Mahfoedz said.
