REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, MEDAN -- Presidential candidate number 02 Prabowo Subianto reiterated his zero-tolerance stance to corruption in the country. He expressed readiness to take stern measures against corruptors.
"We will not tolerate corruption," Prabowo remarked at a mass gathering with thousand of his supporters here on Saturday.
Prabowo said if he were to be elected as president for the 2019-2014 period, he would select clean and anti-corruption figures as his cabinet members. He explained that a ministerial candidate will have to sign an integrity pact on not misusing the position as minister to enrich himself or herself or his or her relatives.
"If he or she refuses to sign the anti-corruption pact, then that person cannot become a member of the cabinet. This is our commitment since the start to make this nation free from corruption," he noted.
He vowed to conduct reform in all sectors, including salaries for civil servants, judges, prosecutors, medical doctor, nurse, governor, and others, due to which they would focus on their work and avoid corruption. Prabowo has also touched on the issue of farmers, who were unable to cover the high production cost.
"How can they smile if, at the time of the harvest season, the government imports (the same commodities). This cannot happen again. We will help farmers to become more prosperous. All of us should be able to enjoy the wealth of this nation," he emphasized.
