REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, KUTA - Iftar or breaking the fast activity in Kuta beach in Bali, drew attention from foreign tourists during enjoying sunset in the beach. The evening activity offered a unique athmosphere as it was held by Balinese Muslim community in the island, where the majority of population are Hindus.

The foreign tourists seemed mingle with the Muslims at the beach. They seem to enjoy religious music which is played by a group of young people before breaking the fast.

Last week, iftar activity at Kuta beach was attended by an Islamic teacher, Cholil As`ad from Situbondo, East Java. Chairman of Hindu-Muslim Brotherhood Bali (PHMB), Anak Agung Ngurah Agung also came. He said that in Hindu teaching, ritual which was held at the beach was an effort to clean themselves.

"So, it's same as Balinese Muslim do today. Before attending a prayer, they clean up Kuta beach. This is a routine activity of Muslims in Bali and can draw attraction for tourists," Ngurah Agung said on Sunday.
