Indonesian young scientists win three gold medals in Malaysia

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Indonesian young scientists won three gold medals and two silvers in the science sompetition in International Exhibition of Young Inventors (IEYI) 2013 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. IEYI is an international event to demonstrate diverse creativities of the youths or young scientists with their inventions.

IEYI this year were followed by 13 countries. Each participant here is winner from his or her national competition. 

Head of Cooperation and Promotion of Science and Thechnology, Bogie Soedjatmiko Eko Tjahjono said that Indonesia won six categories. "These categories include disaster management, education and recreation, food and agriculture, green technology, safety and health, and technology for special needs," he said on Monday.

The first gold medal in food and agriculture category went to 'Detector of Rotten Egg' by Wisnu from Senior High School of Taruna Nusantara Magelang, Central Java. The second gold medal was achieved by Nurina Zahra Rahmati, Tri Ayu Lestari, and Elizabeth Widya Nidianita from Senior High School 6 Yogyakarta with 'Tundershot Filter' to filter waste, for green technology category. The third gold won by Hibar Syahrul Gafur from Junior High School 1 Bogor, West Java with Sexual Violence Shoes, for safety and health category.
