REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - The former president Megawati Soekarnoputri criticizes government's policy on energy, comparing it to the policyt under her father's reign, Indonesian first presiden Soekarno.

"what I see is foreign flags in almost all oil blocks in Indonesia. Where is our flag?" Megawati said during Oil and Gas Energy Independence Seminar on Wednesday. She said that the policy did not stand for people's interest. Instead, the policy tends towards the foreign's interest.

She said Indonesian oil experts only became servants in their own country. She explained that foreign had sought Indonesian energy since his father ruled the country.

"Even though they bring advance heavy duty, it will be useless if I don't give a permit. You will get nothing," Megawati reiterated Soekarno. She said the current working contract was weaker.

Megawati also criticized state oil and gas Pertamina which often complained about being losses. She explained that Soekarno implemented three principles, which were being politically and economically independent and maintaining our own culture.

Vice Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Susilo Siswoutomo, refuted Megawati's claim and said the contract had never been changed. "Since 1970, all contracts are siding for state's interest," he said.
