REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) has invited President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) to deliver a speech at the Community Economic Congress to be held in Jakarta on April 22, 2017.
Business players from various communities, such as Islamic boarding schools and Shariah cooperatives, will attend the congress, MUI Chairman Maruf Amin stated at the Presidential Palace, here, Thursday.
The congress will discuss efforts and strategies to empower the Muslim communities, so that they are able to contribute to Indonesia instead of burdening the country.
Amin noted that President Jokowi is expected to deliver his views on ways to narrow the economic gap through asset redistribution and partnership.
Amin was invited by Jokowi to the palace to discuss several issues related to the country, including the widening economic gap.
