SBY to invite Middle East investors

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono invites investors from Middle East to invest in infrastructure projects in Indonesia during his trip to Liberia, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia and Egypt from January 30 to February 2. Indonesia also seeks investment on refinery with Nigeria, as one of the biggest oil producers in the world.

"One of his agenda is to invite investors in Middle East to participate in infrastructure development in Indonesia," Presidential Staff on Economy, Firmanzah, said on Wednesday. The investment is in line with government's target to create a million job opportunities.

Despite capital expenditure had increase, government still needed public private partnership (PPP), he said. "During Tuesday cabinet meeting, President was expecting to optimize PPP scheme, which can be achieve if more investors come to Indonesia," he said. 

Upon arrrival in Liberia, President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf greeted Indonesia's President before a meeting at the Royal Hotel in Monrovia January 31, 2013. The meeting is prior to the High Level Panel (HLP) on the Post-2015 Development Agenda talks set up by the UN Secretary General. The panel is charged with the responsibility of drawing out a new world developmental framework as the UN Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) expire in 2015.
