Kosovo: We need Indonesia to recognize our independence

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -  Kosovo hopes Indonesia recognize the independence of Kosovo, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kosovo, Petrit Selimi, said to Chairman of Muhammadiyah Din Syamsuddin during conference entitled "Strengthening roles of religious leaders in mediation and conflict resolution" in Helsinki.

Selimi appreciates Muhammadiyah's support for the victory, saying that the recognition is important for the Kosovo as Muslim-majority country. Selimi find that Indonesia has a strategic position in OIC and NAM. 

"We support the independence of Kosovo because it is in line with the Preamble in the 1945 Constitution," Syamsuddin said in the press release on Wednesday. Syamsuddin also invited Selimi to Indonesia to introduce Kosovo to Indonesia people.

During the conference, he explained Muhammadiyah role in reconciliation of Mindanao. Muhammadiyah is a member of ICG peace talk between the government of Philippines and MILF.
