REPUBLIKA.CO.ID,DENPASAR - Bali might have been still a favorite place to celebrate new year's eve. However, the number of tourists coming to Bali is declining as seen from the hotels' occupancy rates.

"In total, the gotel occupancy rate is only 80 percent. Last year, almost every hotel is fully occupied," Chairman of Denpasar Branch of Indonesian Hotel and Restaurant Association (PHRI), Ida Bagus Gede Sidharta Putra, said on Sunday.

He said that European crisis contributed to the declining number. The data says the number of tourists from Spain, Italy, and Greece slashed by 25 percent.

"In addition, Bali has new hotels with modern architectural design which in fact they do not attract tourists as much as expected," he said.
