REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Chairman of the Islamic organization Muhammadiyah Agus Taufiqurrahman stated that Eid al-Adha 1446 Hijri is a momentum to increase awareness and encourage sacrifice for others.

"We hope that the spirit of Eid al-Adha will inspire us to continue making sacrifices for the greater good of the people," he stated when met before the Eid al-Adha prayers at the Muhammadiyah Dakwah Center Building here on Friday.

He explained that the series of worships during Eid al-Adha starting from the Arafah fast, Eid al-Adha prayers, and the slaughter of sacrificial animals serve as a means to eliminate negative human traits.

"This way, we can become more moral people. These acts will help eliminate our greed and our ego," he affirmed.

Taufiqurrahman said that Eid al-Adha is also an opportunity to work together and foster a spirit of goodness towards others. He expressed hope that Muslims currently performing Hajj in Mecca, Saudi Arabia, will complete their pilgrimage successfully and receive abundant blessings.

"Hopefully, their worship will be accepted by Allah, and when they return to Indonesia, they will help promote peace for this nation that we love," he stated.

On that occasion, Taufiqurrahman, on behalf of Muhammadiyah, wished all Muslims in Indonesia a Happy Eid al-Adha 1446 Hijri. "May Allah accept all our good deeds, including our sacrifices, as well as the worship of our brothers and sisters in the holy land," he remarked.
