Ministry Prepares Dawah Material for Strengthening the Tolerance

The Ministry coordinates with religious figures to deliver moderate material.

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The Ministry of Religious Affairs will prepare a dawah material on strengthening the diversity of believers to be forwarded to mosque administrators under the auspices of the Mosque Welfare Agency (BKM) during the Christmas and New Year celebrations 2024.

“That every prayer in the mosque should convey about kindness and tolerance to the people. Our hope is that the security authorities also maintain social stability among religious people,” Menag Yaqut Cholil Qoumas said in a statement in Jakarta, Friday (8/12/2023).

Menag Yaqut's statement was delivered at the Cross-Sectoral Coordination Meeting (Rakor) in the framework of the Safeguarding of Christmas 2023 and the new year 2024. Menag said that the government will celebrate National Christmas on December 27, 2023 in Surabaya as the committee decided.

He said Minister of Communications and Informatics Budi Arie Setiadi will act as National Christmas General Chairman this year. Regarding the material of sermons and lectures, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has coordinated with religious figures to deliver moderate material and provide understanding and strengthening of the diversity of the people.

“We strengthen the difference as the destiny of this nation, the texts of the khutbah throughout December delivered in mosques and coordinated by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, among which through the BKM formed by the Ministry of Education, which has approximately 104 thousand members, we have given sermon material of a moderate nature,” he said.

Regarding coordination with Ormas, Gus Men, Menag's familiar call, said it had already carried out coordination, one of them with the leader of Ormas Banser. “Ormas Banser prepares 200,000 members like last year at any time when the military and police need help. It's Banser tradition in every major day celebration the religions are always involved in safeguarding,” he said.
