REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Indonesian state electricity firm, PLN, gets 2 billion yen loan from Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) to finance three infrastructure projects in business district of Jakarta. The loan carries interest of 2 percent with tenor of 12 years.

President Director of PLN, Nur Pamudji, said on the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Indonesian Government and JBIC that the loan would be withdrawn next year. The projects financed by the loan are the building of 150 kv Gas Insulated Switchgear (GIS) station in West Semanggi and Daan Mogot, Jakarta, and underground cable line in West Semanggi to Karet Station.

Pamudji explained that the contractor of the projects were also from Japan.

Japan wins the bid against Europe and South Korea. "Japan is very loyal on giving loan to the building of Indonesian infrastructure," he said.

The loan is a part of eight PLN's transmission projects financed by subsidiary loan agreement. Apart from JBIC, other countries such as Korea, China, France and Germany provide loan for the projects.
