Minister: Islamic boarding school not for radicalism

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SUKABUMI -  Coordinating Minister of People's Welfare Agung Laksono rejected the notion that Islamic boarding school was an educational organization related to spreading of radicalism. He added that people must work hard to repair the tarnished image.

"A way to repair the reputation is to prove that the graduates from Islamic boarding school are generation with qiality that respect diversity and better than any graduates," he said on Saturday.

The existence of Islamic boarding school he said, was important as it did not only teach national curriculum but also religious content. "Thus, we can have graduates with strong in moral and character," he said.

Government will encourage the existence of Islamic boarding school to play more positive role in communities. And one of them is building intensive communication with their leaders. "Government will also provide some assistance in teaching process," he said.
