REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - In his capacity as the Speaker of Indonesian House of Representatives, Marzuki Alie said the House, as a state institution ruled on the constitution, played a great role in fulfilling the freedom of Indonesian nations. But, he admitted that the role was stained by the corruption cases.

"In the 67th anniversary of independence day and especially on the 67th anniversary of House on August 29, the role is stained by the act of some parties who do some corruption which is inflicted people's interest and stained the House as respected institution," he said on Wednesday.

He explained that the survey conducted by credible institution showed that this year the House was portrayed as corrupt institution. "Even though the image is only public perception, media delivered massive news" he said. The matter, he continued, hampered the House's effort to reform itself as credible and trustworthy institution.
