Indonesian gastronomic week in Spain

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, LONDON - Indonesian Embassy to Madrid and Indonesian Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy holds Indonesian Gastronomic Week in Madrid and Sevilla, for two week. About 300 people savored Indonesian traditional foods and beverages, such as rendang, oxtail soup, gado-gado, grilled ribs, sate, fried rice, and es dawet.

Two Indonesian chefs, Robertus Wisnu from Melia Hotel Yogyakarta and Koderko Prasetyo from Melia Hotel Bali, do not only cook Indonesian culinary, but also decorate the room Indonesian style.

This two-week event holds for second time in Spain. The Counselor of Indonesian Embassy to Madrid, Theodorus Satrio Nugroho, said the most important thing was the promotion through mass media. About 50 media in Madrid and Sevilla reported this event.

Indonesian gastronomic promotion must be hold continuously as it was an effective way to depict a country, said Indonesian Ambassador to Madrid Adiyatwidi Adiwoso A. Another promotion of Indonesian culinary is by opening Indonesian restaurant. Currently there are several Indonesian restaurants in Barcelona, Alicante, and other cities.
