REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA – Build upon the advice from its members and the news, Buddhist Indonesian Legal Aid banned Lady Gaga’s concert in Indonesia, the Chairman of Central Buddhist Indonesian Legal Aid, Budiman, said on Wednesday. A letter sent to the Chief of Indonesian National Police, Timur Pradopo.

The letter, Budiman continued, was a legal instrument for the police to consider the objection. On the other side, he and other Buddhist activists urged the people through house of worship and some youth society not to pay more attention Gaga’s concert.

“Gaga can impact the youth psychologically as young people easily imitate their idol. We urge the Buddhist to use their money to help each other,” Budiman explained.

The board indirectly regulates the norms, but basically it protects the Buddhists from the law perspective. He also studied on the statement of Indonesian Child Protection Commission (KPAI) that said the promoter allowed the students to pay the ticket via installment.

Indonesia, he continued, was Pancasila based state which honored moral values, ethics, and noble characters.  Thus, law enforcement should impose the valid law if the majority of the people contradict with the harmful event. “If the law enforcement ignores people’s voice, it means people’s mandate for the government is not carried out well,” he said.
