REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- To prevent piracy in Indonesia, the Government through Ministry of Justice and Human Rights, launched Indonesian Music Forum (Wami) and Indonesia Music License Center (Selmi) as institutions that manage royalties and issue licenses for users of copyright and related rights products for commercial purposes.

"Today we gave permission to Wami and Selmi, to encourage and help the musicians. The copyright can be used as icon to support economic growth in Indonesia," said Minister of Justice and Human Rights, Yasonna H. Laoly, in Kuningan, Jakarta, Monday (28/9).

Yasonna hoped, the launch of the two institutions can stimulate and motivate musicians or creators of works of art to create something more for this nation.

"I hope with the protection of copyright, their rights can be protected and they can be encouraged, and motivated, to create works of art," said Yasonna.
