REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SUKABUMI - About 112.975 hectare of rice field ready to harvest in Ciemas, Sukabumi, hits by flood and causes the farmers suffer huge losses. The unsaved hulled rice contributes the most to the losses.

"The losses approximately reach 1.1 billion IDR," the Head of Sukabumi Logistics and Emergency of Local Disaster Management (BPBD), Usman Susilo, said on Saturday.

The location of rice field is indeed near the shore. Normally, March is the peak of rice harvest season and the newly planted rice is also damaged. The flood not only causes huge losses in crops and field, but also makes about 342 households inundated as the water hits Ciemas since Thursday in five villages, Mekarsari, Mandrajaya, Ciwaru, Tamanjaya, and Ciemas.
