REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Indonesian Consulate General (KJRI) in Houston, US, has issued a notice on Wednesday, following a series of bombing incidents that has occurred in Austin and San Antonio, Texas, in March. KJRI Houston urges Indonesian community or diaspora in Austin and San Antonio to be on alert and pay attention to their safety, including in the surrounding neighborhood if they come across any goods that are suspicious, the notice stated.

A series of deadly packages had terrified Austin residents for almost three weeks, before the suspected serial bomber blew himself up on Wednesday. The suspect was identified as Mark Anthony Conditt (24).

Conditt detonated a bomb inside his vehicle as SWAT officers approached him in the parking lot of a motel along I-35 in Round Rock.

At least one officer had fired gunshots following the blast. The suspect died from multiple injuries.

According to media reports, four exploding packages in Austin since March 2 had killed two people and injured at least four more. Another blast at a FedEx distribution center near San Antonio on Monday slightly injured one person.

In the official notice, Indonesian Consulate General in Houston stated that it has continued to monitor the situation and communicate with Indonesian community leaders, diaspora, and students in Austin, San Antonio, and the surrounding areas as well as with local authority.
