REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - After forcing Dow Jones to shut futures market on Monday, Hurricane Sandy predictably affects Indonesian Stock Exchange (IDX). The Composite Stock Price Index (IHSG) in IDX would decrease slightly, a stock analyst, Ellen May, said.

The trade on Monday showed that IHSG was at the level of 4,331.37 points, down 0.17 percent. On the research, May said that IHSG tended to be flat on Tuesday.

The impact of the shutdown of Wall Street does not affect domestic stock market directly. However, if it significantly affects stock market in Japan, China, and Hong Kong, IHSG will also be affected.

The Head of Analyst at eTrading Securities, Bertrand Raynaldi, predicted that IHSG on Tuesday would keep decreasing. He recommends some investors to pay attention to their stocks, such as state gas company Perusahaan Gas Negara Tbk (PGAS), Indosat Tbk (ISAT), and Indo Tambangraya Megah (ITMG).
