REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- A total of 580 Members of the Parliament (DPR) and 152 Members of Regional Representative Council (DPD) who were elected on the basis of the Decree of KPU RI on the results of the 2024 Legislative Elections for the period 2024-2029, will be sworn in this Tuesday at the MPR/DPR/DPD RI Building, Jakarta.
The inauguration will be held in the Pariplenary Room, Gedung Nusantara aka Gedung Kura-Kura, which is an iconic building and symbol of parliament.
Based on the accepted agenda schedule, the event will start at 09.20 WIB with the announcement of the Chairman of KPU RI about the oldest and youngest members of the DPR, DPD, and MPR. Subsequently, the Secretary-General of each institution will announce the interim leadership of the DPR, DPD, MPR, which is filled by the oldest and youngest members of it.
Next, the agenda goes to the pronunciation of the oath/appointment of office, which will be guided by the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. President Joko Widodo and Vice President Ma'ruf Amin were also expected to attend the event.
The event then continued to the handing over of memory from the old Leader of DPR RI to the Leader of DPR RI in the meantime. It will also be done by the DPD RI agency and also MPR RI.
Currently, the elected Members of Parliament of the Republic of Indonesia have increased from 575 members to 580 members due to the expansion of provinces in the Papua region. Then the political parties that passed to DPR RI were reduced from 9 political parties to 8 political parties.
The political parties that escaped were PDIP, Golkar Party, Gerindra Party, PKB, Nasdem Party, PKS, Democratic Party, and PAN.
Meanwhile, DPD RI members also increased from 136 to 152 people due to the expansion of provinces in the Papua region. Thus, the number of Members of DPR RI and Members of DPD RI who will be sworn in, as well as becoming Members of the RI MPR, totals 732 people.
